Review Forum Trip July 2013

Post by Ady 27th November 2013, 20:54

It was  a good trip, and great company, the forum trip was to Edale in the Peak district. It was from 16th July, for a couple of nights..

Site was Greenacres, not a large site, only 2 taps, and a couple of EHU's (Electric Hook Up's), the site has to have the best looking and cleanest toilet block i have ever seen, there is only 1 shower in each section male/female, but each one of them is a full wet room shower, the building is made from stone block, the floors are all black tile, the washing up area is inside the block, with 2 sinks and hot water..

It has outstanding scenery, and ideal for walkers, bikers and those who just want to laze about on site, the field we were in, also had its own flock of sheep, curious they were but didn't get too close. The fields could be a little packed in the high season, but we only had to share the field with 2 other sets of campers,

There isn't anything for Kids to do there, no play area, but the camping field was large enough for ball games, and fires are not allowed, there is an equestrian centre on site too, they do horse stuff [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] and BBQ's allowed off the ground.
The local supermarket is Morrison's, that's about a 10 minute drive away, in the village of Chapel en le frith, the village will have all your needs.  Local site seeing at Blue John Caverns is around 5 minuets drive away witch is a good couple of hours underground in the caverns, well worth a viewing.

The site does have its drawbacks

1: the price per pitch is a little misleading, yes its £5 per adult per night, but you have to pay £2 a night for the car [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
2: WiFi is available, but that's also £2 per night, this gives you 24hrs slow speed net, and a 350mb limit. Its no good for skype calls or streaming video.
3: The grass needed cutting
4: There is a railway line by one side of the site and the main road on the other, so at times it can be a little noisy.

I'm thinking about arranging another trip for the forum next year, so I will post that idea up later and see what interest there is in another forum trip.  your thoughts will be appreciated
